What Mom sees when she turns around from working...

I have just a few minutes so won’t be able to catch you up on all with the former Mr. Red – now Mr. Finnigan (“Finn” )(he picked his name), but I wanted to let you and Rhonda know how well he is doing. It’s not unexpected…I get that, but he is a daily delight. He has gotten through his housetraining and happily all those times in the yard with him were mostly spent in nonfrigid weather. He is so smart…learned to fetch a ball his second day at home. He tries all ways to communicate and is figuring that out. He has slept “through the night” since his second or third night. He loves sticks, the yard, sticks, the yard, and my flower beds are definitely going to need fencing come snowmelt. Prior to the snow, and immediately upon arrival he began a love affair with leaves. We almost named him Leif (after adventurer Leif Ericson and his leaf obsession) but he answered to Finn and still does.

He is charming, sweet, a cranky overtired toddler at times, but mostly just plan wonderful. He loves the puppy in the mirror and also the puppy that he can see in the glass of the deck door when it’s dark outside :) He doesn’t understand why they won’t play with him but hopes that if he watches them long enough they will. He taught himself to climb steps to the upstairs and is so proud when he heads up that way in the morning, even when it’s not time…and can’t go down yet. He went to his first puppy class last night and was the star (of course). He sits out on the deck often and just listens to the world – planes, trains, cars, birds. It’s so fun to see how quickly and decidedly he learns things…smart Snitkers!

Again, he is wonderful and doing wonderfully…
