This family of puppies . . . this morning I was painting toenails (our identification system for young pups), taking weights, and doing ENS exercises with all three litters. How fun to watch the progression of the youngest to the oldest puppies. . . so amazing to see God's handiwork in the life of these puppies. :)
Here are a few more images I took from this morning's early work . . .
Even as I performed the morning chores with the puppy families, I thought of my own family, and how it takes many hands to do this work. You have to know that Snitker Goldens would be nowhere without those many hands. From those giving of their time and efforts in our dairy cow operation (Seth, Andrew, Alex) so that Todd can continue construction on the dog/pup facilities, to Corey who continues to wire and clean and do menial dog grounds tasks to keep our program running, to Alex who refrains from handling puppies all season just so she can be our official tester for puppy aptitude testing (this must be a brand new person to the puppies so that testing is accurate), to all of the grandchildren who take turns and must "work", not just play with puppies, to Stephanie, our daughter, otherwise known as Stephanie Kelley, marketing and communications for Snitker Goldens . . . .but she really is so much more. Stephanie is the inner workings of this breeding program. She keeps her mamma (Rhonda) on task with organization, speaks with each of you on the phone or by email, orders food/supplements/supplies, uses her creativity to design the website, new t-shirts, the calendars, and all other artistic goodies, offers work support (she gets down and dirty with a lot of the chores), and most importantly, is that ear for me when I am tired and discouraged, offering encouragement and prayer.
And to Todd, the real laborer of this program . . . who designs and builds just about anything for our needs - for his tireless hours, his personal company on the first month of overnights in the puppybarn, for his genetic opinions in the breeding (after over 30 years of breeding skill and insight with our dairy operation), and for his unwavering support. This facility is a product of everyone's efforts and belief in this program.
This family is awesome - dog and people alike. It's what keeps us going . . . it's what keeps us trying our best . . . it's what gives this work meaning. We know what we do matters and lives are changed by these pups both in our early weeks and in the months and years that these pups will spend with their future families.
I spent almost all of 2015 traveling to a large hospital in Milwaukee, WI, to complete my internship while writing and researching for my thesis - and this family filled in the gaps for me. The year was full of sacrifice and giving. I completed my Masters of Art in Art Therapy and hope to study and complete my exam for temporary licensure in mental health counseling. Amazing, this family.
Thank you to all who entrust us with this very special work. We thank God for the opportunity to serve you in this way through our Golden Family. ~ rhonda
Why Snitker Goldens
We begin with quality tested and approved breeding Goldens and build on that solid foundation with our puppies. Championship pedigrees in their lines are our way of remaining true to breed standard. We strive to personally imprint each pup with positive, rewarding experiences – to nurture each one with love and care, realizing that each day we have your puppy is one day closer to the day you will hold him or her. We use this time to make that permanent impression on your pup, one which he or she will carry for a lifetime.
