At the very get-go, this painting laid in like Mt. Rushmore. I've visited Mt. Rushmore a few years ago, and I couldn't get that experience out of my mind while I was painting. I wanted to do a work that captured the myriad of personalities I see with each litter. And I think this painting does just that. While the puppies vary in expression, they also vary in body build, head structure, and gestures. I look at this painting and think I can tell a story about every pup! Each puppy writes his or her own story with us, one that continues with his or her new family. Many will become companions and working dogs, too. We love the idea that many of these babes will grow up to serve their people, just by being who they are and sharing that Golden love!
