Our Gold Select Training Program is far more than just puppy and young adult training for your Golden Retriever - it is an extension of the imprinting we've been doing for the past eight weeks.

By four months of age, your puppy's character has been permanently shaped. According to Clarence Pfaffenberger, who volunteered his training and knowledge to Guide Dogs for the Blind for 21 years, "No matter how good his inherited character traits, if they are not given a chance of expression during this period he will never be as good a dog as he could have been." (119) 

By this measure, a fully trained Golden Retriever is only as good as their imprinting!

Our Gold Select training is measured by the level of skills attained rather than the number of hours we've been working. Training options available for your Golden Retriever include attaining their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction or their Canine Good Citizenship certification.

Our focus has always been on the relationship with our animals, cultivating the willingness to work their handler, and it is the same for our trained puppies and young adults. We're looking to create a working relationship. ​

Gold Select Young Adult 
Adoption Fees starting at $10,500

Young Adults complete their training by approximately 9-12 months of age, receive their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction within their first few months, and move on to obtain their Canine Good Citizenship certification.

Young Adults will also complete their training as household companions. Crate training, house training, manners, and other important parts of living in your home will be mastered. Visits to businesses in the community will be a part of their manners training as well and scheduled visits to assisted living facilities and other similar establishments will be part of their "prep" training for any future therapy work. 

Gold Select Young Adults will have all up to date vaccinations and a health guarantee. ​

Gold Select Puppy 
Adoption Fees starting at $6500

Puppies complete their training by approximately 4-6 months of age and receive their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction. The S.T.A.R. program was designed by the AKC to prepare pups for obtaining their Canine Good Citizenship certification (our Gold Select Young Adults will complete their CGC).

Pups will also complete their training as household companions. Crate training, house training, manners, and other important parts of living in your home will be introduced. Visits to businesses in the community will be a part of their manners training as well. 

Gold Select Pups will have all up to date vaccinations and a health guarantee. ​
